I love floral print - always have, always will. I acquire the majority of my floral through thrifting, mainly because that's how I find my best & most unique items. Don't get me wrong, I occasionally fall victim to the cute & cheap offerings of Forever 21 (like the two pairs of floral print denim shorts I just bought & cannot wait to wear), but, as a general rule, I try to avoid purchasing super trendy items that billions of other girls are wearing.
This top is a recent Goodwill find, and I'm pretty much head over heels in love with it. Tell me, though, do you think it's too grandmotherly? For me, that's the trouble with floral print: sometimes there's a fine line between cute & geriatric.
i was never a big fan of florals but i love the color combination here.

I love the print and I don't think it's grandmotherly at all! Especially the way you're wearing it...
ReplyDeleteI understand what you're saying, but I don't think this is too grandmothery at all! I think the style of the piece of clothing goes a long way. For instance, if you were wearing floral sweatpants with elastic on both ends, we may have to talk! :) But this is perfect on you, and the yellow cardi is great with the outfit.
ReplyDeleteStill want to know how you do that bun so perfectly!
I don't think it's grandmotherly at all. And I think if you pair it with shorts or a shorter skirt it'd make it even less so. I love the shirt and the pattern is so pretty.

I agree about the hesitation with Forever 21. I also find that their stuff is just not high quality, and I can often find high quality, brand-name stuff at the thrift store.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the top. But I have been told I have old lady taste before, so you might not want to trust me. =)
I don't think its old at all! It's definitely subdued but it's mostly just really feminine and lovely rather than grandmotherly.

I don't think it's grandmotherly...unless it was on an actual grandma or on a couch at grandma's house. But it's not. You've worn it with a fun yellow cardi and a cute-a$$ bun, and make it look amazing!! I love florals too!
ReplyDeleteI don't think this top is grandma-esque at all! Maybe if you paired it with some orthopedic shoes and polyster pants, but with this pretty cardigan definitely not! :) Have a great day, Hannah!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I find all the stuff I've bought from Forever21 lasts the LONGEST in my closet! It's surprising; they go through the washer and dryer and still look fine and I love the price point. Of course, in my case it should be called Forever NOT 21,....but that's okay.
ReplyDeleteThis top is far from geriatric! I love how you paired with the mustard cardi...the colors just pop! I usually buy my trendy items at F21 if it's a trend I think it's only going to last a season and I don't want to spend a lot on.

Oh I love it. So so much.
ReplyDeletethe top is so beautiful, no I don't think at all it's too grandmotherly! I love it!

I think it would look really cool with a gold or silver statement necklace. The neckline is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI do not think this is too grandmotherish at all! I know what you mean about forever 21 though.. I am more like, I like it, but not enough to deal with the service... UG.
ReplyDeleteLove the look though!

I think it's cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit - especially because each piece is a classic staple!! The shirt is great with the cardi - and the colors together make it very modern!

Reminds me of my Gramma, but she has great style! ;)
ReplyDeleteUsually I'm not much of a fan of florals but I love how you styled this one! The yellow cardigan definitely tones down any grandma vibes. Those shoes are pretty cute too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I love these shoes :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine. Let's start planning where we want to dine together!
ReplyDeleteYes, you are so right!
ReplyDeleteSo funny that you say that because I had a gold necklace on but took it off, haha. Will definitely try it next time!
ReplyDeleteCute-ass bun, hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI've had pretty good luck with the life of my F21 items. My main opposition is that everyone wears their stuff!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid of big floral prints, so I applaud you and your ability to make a thrifted floral shirt look like something I could buy off the rack (i.e. not at all geriatric).
ReplyDeletehaha, i'm totally familiar with that floral print dilemma - but I think you are safe, and really it's more about how you style it!
ReplyDeleteI have this problem with florals too! I love, LOVE them, but sometimes its a toss up between the ones I find at the thrift store being too matronly or being able to make them work. I think you made this work! I really like the bright yellow cardi and the loafers/sandals with the floral top, they move the floral top into a cool/vintagey place.
ReplyDeleteThat floral top is SO pretty! Loving florals forever and always as well :)

Chiming in a little late to say that you absolutely do NOT look like an old lady in this shirt. That fabric and print is so on trend. It looks like you bought it at H&M yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI love the floral print of your top - quite 1950s, so pretty!! Looks perfect with the yellow cardigan... just right for spring :)

I can't believe you got that top at Goodwill! It fits great which sometimes I feel like a good fit can be hard to find when thrifting!
